What happens next

VMA has recently been successful in securing Lotterywest funding so that assistance can continue to be provided to both pioneer and new individuals and families to establish and maintain Microboards.   A business plan will now be implemented, including a membership structure  which outlines the long term, reciprocal and contributory nature of the relationship between members and the broader organization.  Support provided through staff in paid roles is small relative to the support provided member-to-member.   This structure is seen as the most effective safeguard for the Microboard model being enacted true to its foundational principles.  The Project Officer has been re-appointed as Catalyst.

The scale of the work will continue to be small and intensive.  It is likely that a third group of new individuals and families will be invited to become Stage 2 members towards the end of the first quarter in 2010.  By the end of the 09/10 financial year, it is anticipated that there will be about 17 Microboards in formation.  Support to these individual Microboards will be provided in a range of ways including one-to-one mentoring, informal gatherings, workshops & retreats.

VMA invites individuals or organisations who are interested in learning more about Microboard formation to become Microboard allies .  Please indicate if you are interested in a microboard for yourself or a family member.  Allies will receive electronic advice of upcoming events, information about other pathways for learning more about Microboards and discounts on events.
